Snooty/Poser bars be damned.
Keeping beer drinkers away from their holy water can be likened to incurring the wrath of all minions of hell. And then some.
That was exactly wot happened last Saturday. Ready for a night on the town, against better judgement, group decides to pop by a bar at Heritage Row…. thats right… ANOTHER snooty bar.
Have ever had a bad experience there - female usherers with bad attitude. And then ..against all odds, it REPEATS itself.
After long discussion with a scantily clad in lil’ black dress fellow female usherer, the verdict was smilingly decreed. “Im sorry maa’m .. the dress code is smart formal and you are too casual..”
Thwarted from our grand drinking plans, we left in fren’s car to blow money at another bar.
But from what Ive heard …that little girlie’s life is gonna be living hell for the next few months. Poor thing.
“You’ll spoil the look of the party,” someone had said those same words for a different scenario. In this case, it’s just absolutely ridiculous they would let in the gwailos with backpacks and sandals or even female usherer lookalikes… and not our jeans?
Granted there is a logical rationale for the dress code… so that unwanted characters dun show up at the bar… but do clothes really make a man? What if all that a few people want to do is enjoy a few drinks and soak up the atmoshphere…in their jeans and t-shirts?
Or is all the fancy dressing for the sake of customers who are looking around and feeling they are in good company..”Ooh, Im so awesome. Wotta lovely time we’re having just sitting/standing here soaking up each others’ awesomeness (got that line from ‘Mean Girls’). Or could the reason for all the posh-ness be just an excuse to charge higher for drinks? Well, have you ever seen well-dressed people totally smashed at these kind of places? I havent. But let me know if you have/do.
After that whole episode… Snooty/Poser Bars be damned. Even Hilton’s Zeta Bar (HRC, Luna Bar, Bar Savanh etc) allows our backpacks, sandals and jerseys/singlet/t-shirt. I tot everyone would be too busy having a good time and drinking to see what the other person is wearing? Much less bother??
Im sorry … i think the management is also as much to blame for letting ur staff (what’s with the attitude?) not be able to tell the paying customers (aka “alcoholics” ie. US!!!) from the posers who are there only to “recreate” the kind of look you want for your party…?
