…found out few days ago that there was a WIBRO seminar in KL…..the koreans want to attack our airwaves!
A handset vendor admits that they also have more knowhow and expertise in the DMB standard of mobile TV and would like to get that going in Malaysia.
Suffice to say, I panicked.
DVB-H so far has been the popular Mobile TV transport technology of choice… there are more DVB-H trials than any other standards around the globe, and even in Malaysia.
Why do handset vendors want to confuse us with so many standards to choose? Nothing wrong with differentiation, but before investing millions of dollars in the tech that MAY take them there, why cant they think FIRST about what consumers themselves, really want and really need, and take it from there?
One nice example is AMD buying ATI… colleague who’s been following the scene long enough only has this to say, “Consumers are in big trouble.”
