taste of ur own meds

I have a somewhat bad habit when it comes to cab drivers.
Having used cabs for almost all my transportation needs around kl and pj.. They have shown me almost all the ways and routes around.
The tough of tat is that now I somewhat know routes, I’ve found myself nowadays waiting to see the which ine they will take.
Most will try for longest and slowest in attempts to raise the meter price. So I wait and wait still because I prefer to give Benefit of the doubt. I wait for them to prove me wrong.

Some… not all fail miserably. When I point out their tracks and what they’d done they will mightily defend their route to which my response always is-
It is ur job to drive passengers .. R they supposed to show u the most effective and efficient routes or shouldn’t that be your job too? Unless its some kind if back alley shortcut.. Is it difficult to also offer the service of at least effective routes?”

A few also rig their meters or charge exorbitant prices.
After pointing out again that I am not a tourist I say “We are all trying to make a living.. If u gonna do it.. Do it the halal way instead of cheating.”

Most are just silent… I dun know if they are more stunned that I caught them or cause I used a religious word. Others seem to have valid reasons which they explain and it makes sense. But at least what I said seemed to register and I mostly cool down except with the ones who stubbornly say things like they didn’t know and its not their fault.

One very good example was a bloke who didn’t start the meter when I got into cab. When I noticed he stated an outrageous fixed sum and. When I protested he tried to justify the price by saying that I changed my mind abt destination. “Excuse me, sir..but I changed my destination before u made turn to the other one. …you didnt waste any mileage…So, what r u talking abt?”
Anyway, how can a cab charge a fixed price unless he was waiting at a fixed location in the first place?

A few even say they aren’t out for the money and ask me to pay how much the fare usually is.

I admit tis a nasty habit, waiting for them to botch up. Some bad hats who don’t do credit to their profession doesn’t mean all of them are the same. Even though most of them prove me right over and over again.

Ok, ok.. Before I burst a blood vessel.. getting a drivers license seems to be one alternative to consider, at least.
