On da fence.

Took a Tickle test with friend and got this back.

Catherine, you are balanced brain.
That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation.

When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over.

While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker.

The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

Explains a LOT about confusion and blurred-ness most times. And maybe why I prefer collaborative brain-storming with lots of input from all involved. Gotta admit its time consuming though.

Also took another test about stress and friend got labelled a Soother (very True) and i got verdicted a Rock and Roller. Dunno why its called that cos it means I handle stress by doing the things i do like pacing, fidgeting, biting nails, ciggies, alcoholic, banging away non-stop on puter etc etc ETC.

Had a huge writers block lately and with the tight deadlines, had zombie-walked into the bookshop and tried to remember past hobbies… at last picked out watercolours, drawing block and two paint brushes. Thought twould help with flow of da juices…hahaha.
On plus side…hols are coming..dont know if it will help cos work never really leaves me (I WONT LET IT!!!), but will keep fingers crossed.

I need a real life without work lurking in the background.

Just couldn’t hack it anymore…

… i just did it today.
Got off the phone from call to the parents. He needs a full-time “driller” with qualifications, a systematic method and fluency in Cantonese. My half-baked chinese and constant sign language, only serves to confuse the poor boy.

Relieved in a way about that. Now I can go on to other stuff.

Sis is off back to Korea this Thursday and parents going back to Melaka the week after. Tempted to take a week-long break…. i need it right now.

In baby news… Boo turned two last Monday. Oh my sweet baby…. all grown up now…
She can count to ten, sing twinkle twinkle little star and recognises over 200 pictures…

I wanted to compose another poem for her, but havent gotten round to it. Wonder how her birthday was… she had a rocking pony on her first birthday and a huge purple rosette that said, “I’m One!!!” . She was also still chubby then and her hair hadnt grown out nicely like it has now.

I miss her so much. I really wanted another BabyBoo very much.

I have such a soft spot for baby creatures. Last month, was at Chinatown at 3am to have a go at the Hokkien Mee there. We passed by this cat and we thought a dead rat that the cat was mauling.

As the cab slowly moved by, we saw that it was actually a kitten. A baby kitten. Not moving at all, just laying there like a broken doll. Quite a contrast from baby kittens I’ve usually seen at my friend’s place - all hyper and prancing around and always up for a playful romp with my friend who is immensely good with animals and has a houseful of cats with cat fur everywhere.

And here was this little kitten, with little, little limbs, and little little paws just lying there at the roadside. What if it were a human baby? I was veeeeeerrrrrrrry upset about that. Was sure my friend would be too.
And then had a nightmare about it, few days later.

Dreamt i was hanging out with Boo’s mom and dad…… and then suddenly i was in a field with long grass, the sort of long grass that you step into gingerly cos you never know what’s really laying on the ground ie. baby chickens, chicken shit etc etc.

And there were dead kittens everywhere.

Quiz Nite…

October 11, 2006

… bud and me make up two of the members for quiz groups - FUQWITZ and TOSSERS …. blame her English-esque humour for colourful group names (one before was PISSHEADZ).

Twas alright, Miss Belize was leading all the way (due to a very knowledgeable and worldly gent there), but at last was overtaken by Planet Melon. And who wouldave thought that Tom Cruise is older than Russell Crowe? Or that Hong Kong has the highest average daily temperature in the month of July? Plus, you’d have to be avid James Bond movie fan to even have a fighting chance. License to Kill or Licence to Kill? Tsk tsk tsk…

FUQWITZ were the only peeps to know that cell walls are cell parts found ONLY in plants, so I guess we werent SUCH the pissheads we thought we were.

My memory…

October 4, 2006

…my memory aint great.
I can recall certain concepts sometimes… but most times I have to have pen and paper and will religiously scribble everything.

Its total chaos.

When it comes to alphabets, numbers (model number), need pen and paper.
When it comes to reading mags/books/articles and there are interesting facts in there…. pen and paper, pen and paper, pen and paper.
When ideas hit like a ton of bricks or just trickle in iota by iota …. Pen. And. Paper.
Lists, clouds, scribblings… all the above again.

Arrrghh.

I asked it once…

October 2, 2006

..i asked it twice . I will ask it again..

Dadda, how’d you make Boo’s hair all-perky?
