Arrived in KL from Singapore to behold a nightmare… a bunch load of people, and taxi services that were out for 1 to 2 hours…they were all out! Partly because it was merdeka’s eve and in a few hours Malaysians everywhere would be celebrating our nation’ 50th birthday.

Gave men in g-strings a miss.. just too tired, cranky, sleepy…instead we headed out to our usual local where it was jam-packed, anyway. Tomorrow is the band’s last night, and a previous band returns. Will be sad to see them go *sniff* Friend was the only one to bring out Malaysia’s flag….and friend is Singaporean!!!!!!

Speaking of Singapore, Had been there for a few days and The night before flight had been at another event so, basically travelled to the island nation on a sleep deficit.

Over there, had a posh dinner while being entertained by Singapore talents Corrine Mae and some rocker chick whose name I forget. Even re-met an ex MTV VJ whom we’d met the year before at industry rival’s event, Max (from Melaka!!! but now Switzerland) hosted us with some other chick whose name I forget ALSO.

Was a little sad to find out that he’s left MTV and is kinda full-time in Switzerland with another job. However glad cos the MTV scene is not quite for him even though yes, he’s helluva fun, funny and genuinely congenial; he’s destined for greater things.

Friend had been away from Malaysia for 16 years. Came back at last to live for four years in KL: Result? Sick to the bone of KL. There she was nagging (for the millionth time) when I decided to just blog it. I asked her and she agrees, “I just want to say what I want to say… I have no time to blog.”
So here goes:

Everything used to be so nice, people were nice, we were growing up slower, life was slower paced, people weren’t so fucked up…if you wanted prostitutes you go to a designated place for them. Not be surrounded by them. Now we have Mat Rempits. And Beach Club. Please come see our Bohsia girls, too… please.

Visit Malaysia Year? What Visit Malaysia Year??

I call my friends to come visit and they don’t even want to!

Everything has gotten worse…downhill. Maybe we just have nicer buildings.

Do we have culture? Besides maybe Penang, and a few of the temples and mosques that we have… do we have culture? NOOO, we don’t. Our neighbour Thailand has culture, even with their prostitution and everything…but they are poor…

Such righteous fury. I love it when she does it.

About at the end of last year, we had met a hyper bunch of Europeans. Partied like mad two nights in a row till it was time to part ways.

It took eight months, but Part Two finally happened; one returned having recruited one more party animal as well as cool new music from a colleague who deejays part-time.. Nickie Nonstop?

I seldom listen to hard core techno, trance etc etc… and can count the djs Ive heard off from one hand, but always had the impression that a few of the best deejays around come from the land of tulips and windmills and so… endeavoured to copy 21 of his tracks, that all combine together to become one long music track.
Apparently this is new experimental stuff and had to promise not to publish it or try to collect commercial revenue via it. (!!!)

How does it sound like?
The whole thing Starts off with something that sounds like high-pitched and high-tech acidic tippity tapping. By track 11, sounds have collected more “body”. By track 13, sounds get spacier.

Its not too bad actually.
Think I shall play it louder in office tomorrow and see who starts to tap their feet and/or fngers.

… the office was abuzz about the annual company trip, this time to the east coast. We’d just finished a huge relaunch and rebrand event and it was at about this time as well, that I was starting to work on features after a long “sabbatical”.

After much putting off due to other things we had to tie up and finish up first, we eventually got our trip dates firmed up and in early September, we were off.

Well, we know how that turned out.

One year later, bones mended and healed, wounds dried up and faded. Most of us have recovered cept for some bruises/scars. One more is scheduling a trip to the doc to remove the metal plates in her shin and we were even ready to talk about another company trip. Though we never (or did we just try not to) discuss our mode of transportation to our yet uncertain destination.

And then we heard news that reminded us further that we shouldnt be so eager to.

Just yesterday, another colleague reported another bus accident… much, much (100x) more gruesome than the one we encountered.. about 20 dead and the rest critically injured after the Melaka-Alor Setar express bus fell off a cliff (??) or something to that effect.

I remember hearing the tale at about breakfast or was it tea time. Was there a pause in the group convo? Eyes glazing over with memory of our own ordeal? Was I really dreaming of floating weightless in the ocean again????

Whether this trip goes through or not, Im still blocking off a week in early September to go to Langkawi. And snorkel to my heart’s content.

KL Hilton’s most popular bar has always brought in some pretty classy acts and Too3K is no exception.
They’re about the most clean-cut ever and the first to have three lead singers: Sinead, Stu and Corey… you’d think they’d be jostling for the limelight on stage, but they don’t… always managing to have great fun together-gether.

They sound very good as well, Stu and Sinead being the songbirds of the group, whereas Corey with DJ background and rapper mode is more hip-hoppy.

Baby Boo is the first rapper Ive heard from the UK, with her rendition of “Twinkle, twinkle little star” while swinging on her swing in the backyard. (Ive the vid somewhere…) Very clear Worcester accent, Boo has while Too3K’s voice is predominantly Coventry/Scottish. I totally adore it.
