Non-stop

August 21, 2007

About at the end of last year, we had met a hyper bunch of Europeans. Partied like mad two nights in a row till it was time to part ways.

It took eight months, but Part Two finally happened; one returned having recruited one more party animal as well as cool new music from a colleague who deejays part-time.. Nickie Nonstop?

I seldom listen to hard core techno, trance etc etc… and can count the djs Ive heard off from one hand, but always had the impression that a few of the best deejays around come from the land of tulips and windmills and so… endeavoured to copy 21 of his tracks, that all combine together to become one long music track.
Apparently this is new experimental stuff and had to promise not to publish it or try to collect commercial revenue via it. (!!!)

How does it sound like?
The whole thing Starts off with something that sounds like high-pitched and high-tech acidic tippity tapping. By track 11, sounds have collected more “body”. By track 13, sounds get spacier.

Its not too bad actually.
Think I shall play it louder in office tomorrow and see who starts to tap their feet and/or fngers.

Hilton Bands

August 13, 2007

KL Hilton’s most popular bar has always brought in some pretty classy acts and Too3K is no exception.
They’re about the most clean-cut ever and the first to have three lead singers: Sinead, Stu and Corey… you’d think they’d be jostling for the limelight on stage, but they don’t… always managing to have great fun together-gether.

They sound very good as well, Stu and Sinead being the songbirds of the group, whereas Corey with DJ background and rapper mode is more hip-hoppy.

Baby Boo is the first rapper Ive heard from the UK, with her rendition of “Twinkle, twinkle little star” while swinging on her swing in the backyard. (Ive the vid somewhere…) Very clear Worcester accent, Boo has while Too3K’s voice is predominantly Coventry/Scottish. I totally adore it.

Check out their own songs at the player below or explore further at www.too3k.com

Alfie-larious

July 20, 2007

There’s this song going around that caught my ears one day.
It made me think that the U.S. is churning out Mickey Mouse clubber after Mickey Mouse clubber (or was it Walt Disney… I forget!) pop stars. But the U.K is anything but.

At least Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse are anything but Mickey Mouse clubbers. And that Corrine Bailey Rae….. she’s like heaven come to earth everytime she sings.

Lily Allen’s “Alfie” is kinda hilarious too. http://www.myspace.com/lilymusic
I cant find any music vid to embed on here, but you can have a sample at http://www.myspace.com/lilymusic… and if you arent the paranoid about security sort, you can even buy it. They’ve got what-looks-like a payment engine called Snocap (?).

It’s kinda cool…they have over 10, 000 artistes…and I remember finding quite a few favourites on there. Doubt they’ll be any golden oldies… I mean can you imagine The Eagles, Beach Boys or Bee Gees signing up to be on MySpace’s featured music artistes. On the other hand, I havent really looked yet, so…

Now, to find the heavenly Corrine Bailey Rae.

Golden oldies theme

Good ol Hall n Oates blasting from design dept’s speakers…

When they insist on knowing my bliss
I tell them this
When they want to know what the reason is
I only smile when I lie, then I tell them whyyyyyy
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in liiiiiiiife
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
(Because your kiss) your kiss I can’t resist

Because I AM that old.

This afternoon, I asked dadda…
“What do you want Boo to be when she grows up?”
“Anything she wants to be…as long as she’s happy”

Now THAT’s agape love.

Sloshed as hell…so do i have any slosh theory to contribute? Tot of a few just now… but forgotten them already.

…managed 3 days in close proximity with immediate family during a “joyous” festive season and basically escaped unscathed.

I suspect my family is more eccentric and dysfunctional than most out there (IMO, anyway). The festive season was not without its usual eccentricities - dilly-dallying, shuffling around, uncalled for jabbing, impatient grunts, snorts, aimless running around like headless chickens, scuffling for the sofa space with strange relatives, and brawling with the nephews for precious time with the television (feed me, water me, give me the remote and i will be contented) … we even managed to miff the in-laws… but it all ended well.

Best of all, I gifted myself a Tears For Fears album - Tears Roll Down, Greatest Hits 82-92. I got it for a deal at RM59 instead of the usual RM85.
It came with 2CDs and a music video DVD - it was fun being reminded what we used to think was hip and trendy for hairstyle and clothes. Best of all, listening once more to my favourite tunes and properly reading the lyrics.

I havent been following their news and later albums even tho had always enjoyed their music. And now looking through their website, I gotta say they look much hotter now that they are older… Roland has maintained his curly tresses, and Curt opted to keep his clean cut look.

The sad sad thing is that they had actually released more albums but I dont believe I have seen any of them at shops in Malaysia….

“Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.”
I would love to get my hands on that latest from this British band.

Music….that natural high…

Listening to Mario Piu, has made me wonder if there is some kind of u n i v e r s a l resonance in this world, that when it strikes a chord with the inner resonances within a person, gives them a kind of n a t u r a l h i g h thats more potent than any drug ever invented (or not)… kind of like a James Brown “I feel good”…

carns1

Would that be too crazy of a theory? Would this explain part of the feng tau phenomenon? Or how drugs/alcohol fool a person to do what they do? Is this my first theory contribution (at last!)toward this blog??? After more than 3 weeks and its jibberjabber thats not even alco-induced?? Pffffft..
